Audio Ease Altiverb 8 is the original convolution reverb plugin, and after two decades it remains the industry standard for placing audio in real acoustic spaces. Rather than generating reverb algorithmically, it uses impulse response recordings from actual concert halls, churches, studios, and unique locations to deliver spatial realism that no algorithmic reverb can match.

Impulse Response Library

The IR library is Altiverb's crown jewel — hundreds of meticulously captured spaces from iconic locations like Abbey Road Studios, the Sydney Opera House, Wembley Stadium, ancient caves in Malta, and studios across Tokyo, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, and New York. Each IR is captured with multiple microphone positions, giving you precise control over how your audio sits within each space. Stage Positioning lets you place sound sources anywhere on a virtual stage, and Audio Ease continues to expand the library with regular content updates.

Sound Shaping and Workflow

Altiverb goes beyond simple convolution playback. The Synthesis section lets you modify any impulse response — adjust decay times, filter frequencies, add early reflections, or reverse the reverb tail. The redesigned interface enables quick browsing and auditioning by category. MIDI control and automation support make it viable for both studio mixing and live applications.

Surround and Immersive Audio

Altiverb 8 supports output formats up to 9.1.6 including Dolby Atmos, making it essential for film, game, and immersive audio post-production. Mono or stereo inputs can be placed within surround fields with full speaker position control.
