Boss GE-7 Equalizer

The Boss GE-7 is the workhorse graphic equalizer — seven bands of ±15dB control for tone shaping, feedback elimination, boost, and problem-solving. It has been fixing tones on pedalboards and in effects loops for decades.

Seven Bands

The frequency centres are carefully chosen for guitar: 100Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz, 800Hz, 1.6kHz, 3.2kHz, and 6.4kHz. Each slider provides ±15dB of cut or boost — enough range for dramatic reshaping or surgical problem-solving. A separate Level slider controls master output independent of EQ settings, so you can boost or cut overall volume without changing your tone curve.

Common Uses

The GE-7 appears on pedalboards in several roles. As a solo boost, it lifts volume and adds presence for lead breaks. As a tone shaper, it tames harsh frequencies or adds warmth that your amp's EQ cannot reach. In an effects loop, it provides post-preamp tone control. For feedback elimination, surgical cuts at problem frequencies keep high-gain rigs under control in live settings.

Many players use it to compensate for room acoustics — different venues ring at different frequencies, and a graphic EQ lets you dial out problems on the fly. The visual feedback of physical sliders makes adjustments faster than turning knobs.

Waza Craft Version

The GE-7W (Waza Craft) offers the same functionality with a lower noise floor and refined frequency response. For high-gain players where noise is critical, the Waza version is worth the premium. For most applications, the standard GE-7 performs admirably.

Who Is This For?

  • Live players compensating for room acoustics night to night
  • High-gain players taming harsh frequencies or feedback
  • Tone tweakers sculpting frequency responses beyond amp EQ
  • Solo boosters using it for volume and presence lift
  • Pedal stackers who need precise EQ between gain stages
