The Eventide H9000 is Eventide's flagship rackmount effects processor — a 2U unit built around four quad-core ARM processors running 16 virtual DSP engines simultaneously. Those engines are organised into up to four independent FX Chains, each capable of running multiple algorithms in series or parallel. In practical terms: four completely separate effects rigs running at the same time from one box, with over 1,600 algorithms to draw from.
The algorithm library spans the entire Eventide back catalogue — pitch shifting and harmonising from the DSP4000 and H3000, reverbs, multi-tap delays, modulation, dynamics, distortion, filters, and every algorithm from the H9 stompbox series. All algorithms run at up to 96 kHz with 32-bit floating-point internal processing.
I/O and Connectivity
The H9000's rear panel is comprehensively specified. Analog I/O runs to eight channels in and out via DB-25 connectors, with channels 1–2 duplicated on XLR. Digital I/O covers AES3 via DB-25 (8 channels) and XLR, S/PDIF via RCA and optical, and ADAT via optical. USB audio provides 16 bidirectional channels. Three expansion slots accommodate optional Dante, MADI, or Pro Tools HDX cards — each adding 32 further channels. Word clock runs on BNC connectors with switchable termination.
MIDI In, Out, and Thru are present via 5-pin DIN. Two TRS inputs handle expression pedals, CV, or auxiliary switches, and two isolated relay outputs switch external gear.
Emote Software
Emote is the control layer — a standalone application and AAX/AU/VST plugin for Mac and Windows that connects over Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or USB. It gives a single-page view of all FX Chains, algorithms, parameters, I/O routing, and preset management. As a DAW plugin, it exposes 32 automatable parameters and syncs tempo automatically to the session. For the H9000R variant (blank front panel, lower price), Emote is the only means of control.
Who Is This For?
The H9000 is professional studio and mastering equipment. Its natural home is a high-end recording facility, post-production suite, or touring production rig where multiple independent effects paths need to run simultaneously with professional I/O and DAW integration. The depth of the algorithm library means it also serves dedicated sound designers and experimental musicians who want the full Eventide processing heritage in one unit.
At this price point it competes with dedicated hardware reverbs, pitch processors, and multi-effects units that would individually approach or exceed the H9000's cost. The H9000R offers the same processing at a lower price for those who will control it entirely from Emote.
