The Kirchhoff-EQ is a 32-band parametric EQ plugin built for critical professional applications by Three-Body Technology. It combines refined sound quality, analog-modeled curves, dynamic processing, 15 filter types with continuously variable shape, and 32 vintage filter types modeled from 9 classic hardware EQ units.
Core Features and Sound Quality
Kirchhoff-EQ runs at 64-bit precision by default, with a switchable "Double-Double" mode that pushes internal processing to 117 bits — the first equalizer to reach that level. The 15 filter types range from conventional low-pass, high-pass, bell, and shelving to more specialized flat tilt, flat top, sword, brick wall, and allpass filters, all with continuously variable slopes from 0 to 96 dB/oct. The 32 vintage filter types are modeled from 9 real hardware EQ units, with the advantage of adjustable frequency points that the original hardware lacked.
Dynamic EQ
The dynamics processing goes beyond typical dynamic EQ. Two-way thresholds let you simultaneously compress above and expand below (or vice versa) to stabilize a frequency range. Harmonic Shifted Envelope technology reduces odd-harmonic distortion during dynamic processing. Onset detection focuses on transients, and relative envelope detection lets you sidechain one band's dynamics to another — useful for creative frequency interaction that traditional EQs can't achieve.
Phase Modes and Workflow
Four phase modes cover different mixing needs: zero-latency (0 samples), analog (63 samples), linear phase (selectable 2047-32767 samples), and mixed phase — an intelligent mode that uses zero-latency for low frequencies and linear phase for high frequencies. Additional features include spectrum grab, oversampling, lookahead, mid-side processing, stereo width control, and global EQ scaling, all with low CPU usage.
Who Is This For?
- Mastering engineers who need the precision of 117-bit processing and linear-phase options
- Mix engineers wanting dynamic EQ with two-way thresholds and sidechain capabilities
- Orchestral and classical producers requiring precise control over complex arrangements
- Engineers transitioning from hardware who appreciate vintage EQ modeling with modern flexibility
- Power users who want one EQ that handles corrective, creative, and dynamic tasks
