The Korg Prologue is Korg's flagship analog polysynth, offering 8 or 16 voices of true analog sound with the digital multi-engine from the Minilogue XD. It represents Korg's most serious statement in analog synthesis since the original Polysix and Poly-61.
The voice architecture features two analog VCOs per voice with multiple waveforms and cross-modulation, a self-oscillating 2-pole low-pass filter, and the digital multi-engine for hybrid textures. The result is a synth equally capable of warm pads, cutting leads, rich basses, and experimental sound design.
Bi-timbral operation splits or layers two complete sounds across the keyboard, effectively doubling the sonic palette in live performance. The digital effects — modulation, delay, and reverb — are high quality and integral to the Prologue's expansive sound.
The build quality is professional-grade with a solid chassis, quality keybed, and sturdy knobs. The OLED oscilloscope provides visual feedback on waveforms, making sound design intuitive. The logue SDK allows custom oscillators and effects, extending capabilities beyond factory sounds.
Who Is This For?
The Prologue suits serious synthesists who want flagship analog polyphony:
- Professional keyboardists needing stage-ready analog sounds with reliability
- Studio producers wanting a versatile polysynth for pads, leads, and bass
- Sound designers exploring the multi-engine's experimental possibilities
- Analog purists who still want modern convenience (presets, MIDI, stability)
- Korg enthusiasts looking for the company's flagship analog offering
For more compact needs, consider the Minilogue XD. For pure vintage sound, explore original Prophet or OB synths. The Prologue offers flagship features at a competitive price point.
