Minimal Audio's Current 2 takes hybrid synthesis and wraps it in one of the most elegant interfaces in the plugin world. Five sound engines — spectral wavetable, granular, FM, additive, and sampler — combine without feeling overwhelming, thanks to an interface where every parameter animates and every connection shows its effect in real-time.

Five Sound Engines

Two spectral wavetable oscillators form the core, drawing from 170+ factory wavetables with over 40 warp effects each. The granular engine handles 250+ simultaneous grains for dense, evolving textures. FM and AM routing with feedback covers metallic and bell-like territory. The additive sub-oscillator generates a root note plus up to eight partials for precise harmonic control. A time-stretching sampler rounds things out with 800+ factory samples.

Effects and Filters

Dual filters offer 50+ morphing filter modes that blend smoothly between types. The effects rack chains nine processors including Wave Shifter (combining frequency shifting, ring mod, FM, and AM), Polar Distortion, Cluster Delay, Morph EQ, and Fuse Compressor. Every effect parameter can be modulated.

Modulation System

The visual drag-and-drop modulation system is Current 2's defining feature. Connect any source to any destination and watch the interface animate the result in real-time. Envelopes, LFOs, and curve sequencers feed an unlimited number of connections. MPE support maps pressure, slide, and per-note pitch to any parameter with editable response curves.
