Xfer Serum 2

Xfer Serum 2 builds on the legendary wavetable synthesizer that defined modern sound design. Released in 2025 as a free upgrade for Serum 1 owners, it adds powerful new oscillator types while maintaining the workflow that made the original essential.

New Granular and Spectral oscillators expand beyond wavetables. The Granular engine offers sophisticated sample manipulation with transient detection. The Spectral oscillator provides realtime harmonic resynthesis. Combined with refined wavetable smooth interpolation, the sonic palette is vastly expanded.

MPE support brings expressive per-note control for compatible controllers. Eleven new filter types join the existing 100+ options. Multiple independent effect buses replace the single FX chain, enabling complex routing. An arpeggiator and clip sequencer add performance tools.

Serum 2 ships with recorded instruments including orchestra, choir, pianos, and guitars — a departure from purely synthetic sources. The familiar drag-and-drop modulation system remains, now with even more destinations.
