The Akai MPC Live II builds on the original MPC Live's portable standalone concept with thoughtful refinements. Like its predecessor, the MPC Live II is a fully standalone production centre. The 10.1" multi-touch display provides a modern workflow, while the 16 pads deliver the classic MPC feel. The built-in rechargeable battery offers approximately five hours of runtime, making it genuinely portable for couch sessions, travel, or outdoor production.

The audio I/O is comprehensive for a portable unit: two combo inputs for recording vocals or instruments, and six outputs for multi-track routing. When connected to a computer, it doubles as an audio interface and controller for the MPC 2 desktop software.

The standalone engine includes the complete MPC 2 plugin suite — drum programs, keygroups, and synthesizers like Hype, Tubesynth, and the Mellotron. Sample manipulation with real-time time-stretching and pitch-shifting is smooth and intuitive.
