The Sequential Trigon-6 is a six-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer that picks up where Dave Smith left off — a ladder-filter polysynth built with the depth and character that defined Sequential's legacy. Three VCOs per voice, a switchable 2/4-pole resonant ladder filter, and a Poly Mod section that rewards patient exploration make this one of the most expressive analog polysynths you can buy new today.
The oscillator architecture gives each voice triangle, sawtooth, reverse sawtooth, and variable-width pulse waveforms with simultaneous selection — stack them and the sound thickens immediately. Oscillator 3 can drop into low-frequency mode to act as a second LFO, and hard sync between oscillators 1 and 2 adds aggressive harmonic edge when you need it. The ladder filter, with its drive and feedback controls, ranges from clean and open to saturated and self-oscillating, with the 2-pole mode offering a lighter, more open character and the 4-pole delivering that classic closed-down warmth.
Poly Mod routes oscillator 3 and the filter envelope to oscillator 1 and 2 pitch, oscillator 1 pulse width, and filter cutoff — a system borrowed from the Prophet-5 that still feels uniquely expressive. The LFO adds five waveforms with eight destinations, and with the arpeggiator and 64-step polyphonic sequencer on board there's a complete performance toolkit without touching a DAW.
Onboard effects — reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, phase shifter, and ring modulator — plus stereo analog distortion mean you can run the Trigon-6 straight into a mixer without needing anything else in the chain. 500 factory presets from top sound designers give you a strong starting point, alongside 500 user slots.
The 49-key Fatar semi-weighted keyboard with velocity and aftertouch feels premium and playable. Spring-loaded pitch wheel, mod wheel, expression pedal inputs, and full MIDI over USB round out a well-specified instrument. Poly chain support means two units can be linked for 12-voice polyphony if you ever need the extra depth.
Who Is This For?
The Trigon-6 is for players who want a serious analog polysynth with real depth — not a beginner instrument, but not intimidating either. If you have outgrown entry-level poly synths and want something with the character and build quality that will last, this is where Sequential's modern lineup makes the most sense. It suits studio producers, live keyboardists, and anyone drawn to the classic sound of a well-designed ladder filter in a polyphonic context.
