The Akai MPC XL is Akai's most powerful Music Production Center ever made, representing a significant leap in standalone production capability. Announced at NAMM 2026, it combines the legendary MPC workflow with desktop-class specifications.

At its heart is a second-generation 8-core processor delivering four times the power of previous MPCs, paired with 16GB of RAM and a 256GB NVMe SSD. This enables up to 32 simultaneous plugins, 16 audio tracks, and 256 voices — territory previously reserved for computer-based production.

The 10.1" HD touchscreen features an adjustable tilt mechanism, improving ergonomics for both seated studio work and standing performance. The 16 MPCe pads with 3D-Sensing Technology provide expressive control, while comprehensive Q-Link knobs offer hands-on parameter manipulation.

Connectivity is extensive: USB-C provides 24 channels of audio I/O and 32 channels of MIDI I/O for tight DAW integration. For modular users, 16 CV outputs enable deep integration with Eurorack and analog gear. Traditional audio I/O includes 8 outputs, 4 inputs, and dedicated phono inputs for vinyl sampling.
