The Native Instruments Maschine MK3 combines a responsive pad controller with a built-in audio interface and dual high-resolution screens. It's designed to be the center of your beat-making setup, whether using Maschine as your main DAW or as a plugin within another DAW.
Pads and Performance
The 16 pads offer velocity and pressure sensitivity with per-pad RGB lighting for visual feedback — colors indicate groups, playing state, and sound assignment at a glance. Note Repeat triggers rhythmic patterns at selectable divisions. The Smart Strip provides pitch bend, modulation, and note repeat control with a swipe. Pad sensitivity can be calibrated to match your playing style, from light finger drumming to hard-hitting performance.
Dual Screens and Browser
Two high-resolution color screens display everything from browser navigation to mixer levels to plugin parameters without looking at your computer. Browse sounds, preview samples, adjust effects, and mix levels entirely from the hardware. NI's tagging system and search make finding sounds fast — filter by instrument type, character, or genre across the entire Komplete library.
Built-in Audio Interface
Like Push 3, the MK3 includes a built-in 24-bit/96kHz audio interface — balanced stereo outputs, a combo mic/line input with phantom power, headphone output with independent level, and MIDI in/out. This eliminates the need for a separate interface in simple setups, making Maschine a genuine all-in-one production hub.
Software and Integration
The included Maschine software provides sampling, slicing, sequencing, audio recording, and mixing with a substantial sound library. The Maschine Essentials selection of Komplete instruments gives you drums, keys, bass, and synths out of the box. The software runs standalone or as a plugin in any major DAW, maintaining its own sequencer and mixer within the host.
Who Is This For?
The Maschine MK3 suits producers who want an all-in-one beat-making system:
- Hip-hop and electronic producers building beats with hands-on pad control
- Home studio owners who need controller and audio interface combined
- NI ecosystem users with Komplete instruments wanting tight integration
- DAW producers wanting tactile control without leaving their host
- Finger drummers who value responsive pads and Note Repeat performance
For standalone operation without a computer, look at Maschine+ or MPC Live. For NI software integration with built-in audio, the MK3 delivers.
