The Roland JUNO-60 plugin is a software recreation of the iconic 1982 analog polysynth, built using Roland's ACB (Analog Circuit Behavior) technology. It faithfully models the original's analog circuits—DCO, VCF, VCA, chorus, and arpeggiator—while adding modern features that extend the instrument beyond what the hardware could do.
ACB Modeling
Roland's ACB technology models the actual analog circuits of the original Juno-60 at component level, capturing the quirks and character of the hardware including oscillator drift, filter behaviour, and the signature chorus effect. The result is a plugin that responds and sounds like the real instrument, not a sample-based approximation.
Extended Features
The plugin goes beyond the original hardware with several additions: an 8-voice polyphony mode (the hardware had 6), an extended oscillator range, a second envelope, and the option to switch between the Juno-60 filter and the Juno-106 high-pass filter circuit. The chorus section includes the two classic modes plus a hidden third mode and an additional chorus option modeled on the Boss CE-1 pedal. Extra effects include reverb, delay, flanger, and overdrive.
PLUG-OUT Support
The JUNO-60 plugin supports Roland's PLUG-OUT format, allowing it to run directly on the Roland SYSTEM-8 hardware synth. Parameters map automatically to the SYSTEM-8's knobs and sliders, giving you a hardware experience with the plugin's sound engine.
